Barry S. Kayne, DDS

Dr. Kayne received his D.D.S. from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus, Ohio, in 1969.  He completed the advanced dental education program in orthodontics and periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1979.  Dr. Kayne is one of only a few dentists in the United States who is a specialist in orthodontics and periodontics.  He has extensive training in dental implant therapy and has been placing dental implants since 1989.  Dr. Kayne was the President of the Delaware Academy of Medicine from 2008 – 2010.

Having served his country in the United States Navy, Dr. Kayne practiced general dentistry in Yokosuka, Japan, from 1969 to 1971.  He also practiced general dentistry in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, from 1971 to 1976.  After completing his orthodontic and periodontal program, he taught full-time at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry before starting his specialty practice in Delaware in 1981.

Dr. Kayne has been actively involved with dental education.  In addition to his current part-time faculty appointment at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, Dr. Kayne has also taught at Temple University School of Dentistry and the Veterans Hospital of Philadelphia.  He lectures on various topics, including periodontics, dental implants, and the treatment of craniofacial pain. For over two decades, he was the Chairperson for Professional Education with the state dental society.
