Alfred Bacon III, M.D., FACP, specializes in infectious disease and internal medicine at Christiana Care Health System.Dr. Bacon has been caring for patients in Christiana Care’s Infectious Disease section since 1987 and serves as medical director of Clinical Trials with the Department of Medicine. He is a clinical assistant professor with the Department of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College.
Dr. Bacon is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Bacon earned his medical degree at Jefferson Medical College. He completed an internal medicine residency at Lankenau Hospital and an infectious diseases fellowship at University of Michigan.
Dr. Bacon actively engages in research as a principal investigator. He has held numerous leadership roles at Christiana Care, and chaired and served on committees for research, infection control, education and quality assurance. He has authored articles published in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and abstracts, and lectured throughout the Delaware Valley.
Dr. Bacon is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and recipient of the ACP Laureate Award, board member and former president of the Delaware Academy of Medicine, and a member of the American Society of Microbiology, New Castle County Medical Society and Infectious Disease Society of America.
