Lewis B. Flinn President’s Award

The Lewis B. Flinn President’s Award is made in the name of Lewis B. Flinn, M.D., a founder and the first President of the Delaware Academy of Medicine. It is awarded to an individual or organization that has achieved distinction by substantive contributions to the well being of our community through education, leadership, philanthropy, or service.

The 2023 recipient of the Lewis B. Flinn President’s award is

Joseph F. Kestner, Jr., MD

Dr. Joseph F. “Ted” Kestner, Jr. graduated from the Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College in 1968. He completed his internship at Philadelphia General Hospital in 1969 and his residency at Jefferson Hospital from 1969-1973. Dr. Kestner completed a pulmonology fellowship at George Washington University Medical Center in 1975. Dr. Kestner specialized in Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine, and was affiliated with Christiana Hospital. Dr. Kestner is certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease and joined the Board of the Delaware Academy of Medicine in the 1990s. He was the president of the Delaware Academy of Medicine from 2006-2008.
